Certified Outpatient Spravato® Treatment Center

SPRAVATO® (esketamine) CIII nasal spray is an FDA-approved prescription medication administered under medical supervision for adults living with treatment-resistant depression.

What Is SPRAVATO® (Esketamine)?

SPRAVATO® is a prescription nasal spray used along with an oral antidepressant to treat adults who have struggled with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) or depressive symptoms in major depressive disorder with suicidal thoughts or actions.

Unlike traditional oral antidepressants that target neurotransmitters like serotonin or norepinephrine, SPRAVATO® targets the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor, helping restore neural connections in brain regions responsible for mood regulation.

Who May Be Eligible?

Adults with Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD):

Individuals who have tried two or more oral antidepressants during their current depressive episode without adequate improvement.

Major Depressive Disorder with Acute Suicidal Ideation:

Depressive symptoms in adults with MDD experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviors, alongside comprehensive clinical support.

How the Treatment Session Works in Our Aurora Clinic

Because of the risk of sedation and dissociation, SPRAVATO® can only be administered at certified healthcare settings under the SPRAVATO® REMS program:

  • Step 1:You self-administer the nasal spray under the direct guidance and supervision of our healthcare provider.
  • Step 2:You rest comfortably in our calm outpatient clinical room for at least 2 hours while our clinical staff monitors your blood pressure and well-being.
  • Step 3:Once the observation period concludes and your provider verifies you are ready, you are released to a designated adult companion who drives you home safely.
